Default Z06 Diet

So far how I have leaned out.....

The weights that I found from research

LS7 vs LS6 -50 lbs.... Fully dressed LS6 is in the 490's vs 440's for the LS7..
Clutch with flywheel -15 lbs
EGR, Airpump -5 lbs
Exhaust -10 lbs... Should be around -20 lbs but I picked up 8 lbs with the Borlas over Ti's
Eradispeed rotors -10 lbs

My CCW's saved me a few lbs but my rear tires are heavier by a few lbs so that's a wash.

My plans for the coming month...

Lightweight battery -25 lbs
Ditch power drivers seat track for manual -15 lbs
LG Pro coilovers -8 lbs

-138 lbs

So I'll easily be in the low 29xx range with a full interior, A/C, radio, and a few gallons of gas

I'm going back to Ti's vs Corsa's should shave a few, I'm going to remove pass seat on track days, the battery is another good idea!

peteZ06,
There is a ten pound difference from the power seat track to the manual track.

I weighed them both a few years back when I switched over to the manual track.

My 19" CCW wheels weighed a ton more than the stock Z wheels.

The Good year Super car tire/non runs are extremely light.

I've been wanting to get a better set of seats but ours come in at 19 lbs each and that is damn light... Not too many comfortable race seats that weigh less than that.

The manual seat track is 10 lbs vs 25 lbs for powered... so youll be saving 30 lbs for a few minutes of your time.. not bad!

Hmm..

I'll double check when I do mine within the next few weeks.. from what I've read.. a few different people weighed the power tracks at 26 and manual at 10 lbs.

Yeah.. those 19's are heavy.. and the tires end up weighing a good amount more as well. I'm glad I stuck with 18's all around.

Nice, I didn't realize the LS7 was lighter then the LS6. That saves me some weight there... I pretty much have the same weight savings you have minus the rims. But I do have a auto swap so I wonder how much heavier that is over a 6spd... Once spring comes around I will toss it on a scale

Windshield washer tank and pump, probably 5 pounds. add 7 more pounds if it was full of fluid. A coat of rainx on the windshield weighs nothing.

Some people take the vibration damper off of the rear end.

Braille battery. Just like it says in the picture, 15 pounds. Stock one is... 46 if I remember correctly.

Pete...
I have been feeding my Z too much..... Brey Kraus harness bar, just purchased a Nitrous Express kit ( 10 lb bottle)... all the safety stuff. window switch, Ligenfelter controller, Leash Electronics progressive controller, custom built stand alone fuel cell... My Z is getting fat.

However, i also just picked up some new Eraidspeed 2pc rotors, I am running a stroked LS2.. F14's, coilovers, light sways A4's, Hopefully the mods offset..
we'll see... installing the NOS kit sometime in Feb... Will be doing the brakes this week once i receive them from TPS MAK....

How big of a shot you plan on spraying?

I picked up a radically ported LS7 manifold and TB.. Also been running mostly 100 octane so come spring I'll have it retuned for the mods and bump up my timing.. Hoping to break into the 600 range.

Just some input regarding light weight racing batteries like the Braille, I had an Odessey battery in my former Cobra and if you don't drive frequently it will die on you. I would recommend keeping a charger on it all the time or swap out only for track days. I would leave mine in during the spring/summer months and then swap the hefty OEM battery back in for the Fall/Winter. You know how a low volt battery can wreak havoc on the K-harness bypass recall on these cars!

Wow I was not aware of that at all.

Is the LS3 also as light as an LS7?

Apparently there is an engine swap in the distant future for my car, 50 lbs up front is HUGE.

I can attest to this. Had a Braille battery a few years ago. Didn't drive the car for about a week without a tender...battery died. Tried reconditioning it without success. $190 down the drain.

Why didn't you warranty it? A buddy of mine left his GTO for a week while he was on vacation. Came home to a battery that wouldn't take a charge. Braille warrantied it for him. I don't recall him even having to pay a pro rata in spite of the fact that it was over a year old.
