Default Question about my xs header install!

I purchased the 1 3/4 Catted system everything went great!! car runs smoothly, but it seems I lost my low end power? In 2nd I could spin the tires easily But now it spins more in the upper rpm range only codes were 420 430 and no its not tuned yet. Car is stock except for the headers and zip tie mod with a k&n filter.

I have an older xs power system and didn't notice any loss in the low end. Once its tuned and dyno'd your results may change. Also there are more variables to tire spin than just headers, so they may come into play.

AFR/Timing will need to be adjusted to maximize the improvements, if it feels lazy after a tune then that sucks. What RPM's is it lazy in?

Mine felt stronger in the lower rpm range. I am spinning much more than i was before and now even on most 3rd gear punches. Some of that is from the cold weather, but even on warmer days i feel more low end.

On back roads around here, I drive it lugged in 6th gear at low speeds a lot, like 40-45 mph and ~1200 rpms. It definitely climbs top gear faster than it did before and can accelerate up hills whereas before it was just holding speed on those hills.

It also seems like its breaking the tires sooner than it was before, like 2000 rpms in 2nd gear. Same in 3rd gear, when punching it, it used to have grip most times and when it did spin it was not till 4000+ rpms. Now its spinning 3rd at 3000-3500. Again, some of that is from cold pavement and crappy tires, but even on warmer days I can feel it.

My next step is a dyno tune, so I will see what the overall power improvement is.

No tune?

You are going to be running lean.

Need to tune that thang!

Should pick up around 15 more RWHP with a tune.
