Default Sites and info for ordering wheels?

Does anyone have any good sites/vendors that they like to use for ordering wheels? I'm looking to get some new wheels/tires for my 1999. Is there any good info I should have when I go to order such as specific offsets I should use? I bought the car with 18"s all around and the front wheels are too wide for the car. The previous owner had narrower tires which don't fit correctly. Anyhow, I'm just looking for a nice set of chrome or machine finish wheels that fit the car correctly without heavy mods. I'm also not wanting to spend huge amounts of money on them... I don't have $3k for a set of rims for a 1999 car!

Are the wheels provided by that vendor of good quality? No chrome/paint flaking?

Yes, high quality with no issues!
Be sure to state your exact requirements to them, and they will more than satisfy your wants or needs. Highly recommend them.

You say you don't have 3 K for wheels, but you say you want tires also, and you will need new tire pressure sensors...
So my question is what is your actual budget? for tires wheels and sensors mounted and balanced and shipped.

You should find a vendor who knows your car ( a C5 ) with the proper offset, he should be able to offer you a range of tire options. Just remember one thing.. AS I tell many people here... " I cant afford to buy anything too cheap "
Meaning, cheap tires and wheels will cost you more in the long run.
tires are going to cost you, 700 to 1200 dollars
tire pressure sensors are going to cost you 450 dollars
shipping will cost you about 80 dollars.
Don't buy cheap wheels they will bend if you hit a pot hole.
Your best bet would be to go with stock sizes, 17 fronts, and 18 backs
you could go with 18 fronts and 19 backs, because these wheel sizes offer a range of tire options.
There are some good Vendors on this forum.. One of the highest rated vendors on this forum Is Dennis Of Double D mods. he can set you up, is a great guy and very dedicated to customer service, and extremely knowledgeable. easy to take with o the phone.

The forum has a number of very good vendors that can help you out with a new set of wheels:

House of Wheels
West Coast Corvettes
JW Motoring
Double D Mods
Mid-America Motorworks

just to name a few.

CULTRAG Performance would be a good source for things like tire pressure sensors if you need them.

As for tires, I have had good luck with both Tire Rack and Discount Tire Direct - shop each and see which gives the better deal.

I was asking about rims and prices. Not with the tires, tpms, etc. I know those will cost extra and I have money for those. I just don't want to spend $3k in ONLY rims... as I have seen some rims such as BBS cost upwards of that. I'm just looking for a good quality rim. I will go to my local tire dealer that will beat discount tire and tire rack hands down. He charges me only $10 above cost for each tire!

its a bad idea not to have them installed, or turned off, for many reasons
without a spare and no means to tell when a tire is going flat, its only when the car becomes unstable and at risk for an accident do you know. At this point you may have irreparable damage to the tire and wheel
with TPMS you get a heads up at 25 psi that your tire is low on pressure. even with a slow leak and the heads up warning, with a small compressor you can pump your slow leak back up to get you home or to a safe haven to have the tire repaired, without a costly replacement..

I would STRONGLY recommend buying a good quality USED SET of wheels, preferably a 3 piece set.

Buying them used they have already lost all the value theyre going to lose, and you can usually sell them in a couple years for the same price you paid or something close.

3 piece wheels hold their value extremely well on the used market, you can aso customize and refinish them as you please.

You can also look at Eckler's Corvette... they offer a pretty nice selection and will help you find the proper fit. Good Luck ...let us know what you get.

A couple years back I bought a set of 18/19 ZR1 style wheels, new Michelin Pilot AS tires (RF's), and new TPMS sensors from tire rack. All mounted and ready to go - $2300 all up including shipping. They have been my regular tire "go to" place for many years now. Never had an issue.

I bought mine through Americas Tire.

C6 Z06 chrome replicas. Standard 17"-18" sizes. Excellent quality. $850 OTD installed.

Absolutely one-stop-shopping and trouble free. Couldn't be happier.

How would I know if the car originally came with the system? It did come with the adjustable shocks, but that was removed properly at some point and reprogrammed so no codes exist. Could the TPMS have also been removed?

I have that system on three of my other cars. The ones that don't have it, well, a quick visual will show me if I am in trouble, and each car has an air pressure gauge, plus three of them have a mall compressor in them, just in case, and that includes the 2014 Camaro I just bought.

Your 2002 Vert came from the factory with Tire pressure monitors . consisting of 4 TPSM ( one in each tire ) and a receiver to communicate with the DIC ( Digital Information Center
the former owner chose the cheap route not to replace them, there is no reason to have ever turned them off. The information they offer has no down side. the TPMS last from 8 to 12 years and in some very rare cases, 17 years.
