try abs fixer.. around 150 bucks see if they can do a rebuild on yours.. as long as it is a 2001 to 2004. you did not state what year your car is.. give them a call....
I've seen other posts that say that repairing the relays will fix the P1571 but won't clear the TCS No Comm issue. Also seen posts indicating that the EBCM will still eventually fail even after the relays have been repaired. So I was thinking about buying a new one. I got a quote from GMPartsHouse (now under a new name), but the cost was about twice as much as I thought it would be (over $1000!).
Is abs fixer the username of a CF member? Or is it the name of a company or website?
I agree with 8Vette7.
Call Brandon, at ABSFixer.com. He is very professional, and knowledgeable about these EBCM's and their 'issues'.
When I had a problem, I wrote him, he wrote back. Then I called him and talked about my codes and my worries. He listened, then helped me understand how they work on these things. And he told me to send it in, and don't worry (he told me); he'd send it back repaired, better than when it was new, because of upgrades. They can fix more codes, than what is listed on their website. I don't know about yours, specifically; but all you need to do, is call, and ask.
Their website gives information about how to remove the EBCM, and how to re install it after repairs. It's really quite easy.
I also believe, if he can't fix it, he'll tell you that, when you first call.
I have had a similar problem with my 2001 vert.. Somewhere in the tech section I found some helpful hints for first trying to fix the problem before purchasing a new unit.. The first suggestion was cleaning the grounds. I located the ground under the hood just above the wheel well. I pulled it apart and cleaned the corrosion and grime from inside the plug. I also cleaned, with wire brush, the threaded post the ground plug is attached to. It seemed to work. Have not had a DIC code since doing this.. If nothing you do works, I, as well, would recommend contacting ABSfixer (www.absfixer.com) in Nixa, Mo. I heard good reports on their reliability. A friend who lives in Nixa checked them out for me and was quite impressed with the owner and his positive attitude.
