Well after years of running the OEM Goodyear runflats, I finally decided it was time for a change. Based on good reviews from Jack, Kofax and others, I went with the Hankook Evo2 tire from Discount Tire. I couldn't be more satisfied but wished I had done this years ago.
This morning on my way to the tire store, I was getting a lot of tire whine that almost sounded like a rear end about to go out. Driving the same route this afternoon with the new tires was like night and day. No tire whine and was actually able to hear the radio.
My tpms were only five years old so I kept the same ones and did not even have to reprogram (thanks to Bill Evil-Twin) for the heads up on that issue. This forum is just a great place to exchange advice and experiences. Hopefully my experience may help somebody else who is on the fence about runflats!
Excellent choice of the Hancook tires. I got rid of the OEM run-flats and installed set of Hancooks in August 2009, then took off for an 8,200-mile trip. Excellent handling, low tire noise, great in the rain, etc. They were finally replaced in September of this year with about 45K miles on them. They would still have passed our NH safety inspection, but had worn enough that they were getting a little tricky in the rain.
Replaced all four tires with Sumotomas this time, only because I got a great deal on them. The Sumos have also proved to be great handling tires and are everything the Hancooks were.
