Default Programming new Fob!

Hey Guys, new to the forum in general! Just purchased a 2004 Corvette C5 which I believe may be the lemans edition...maybe someone can help me with this as well, what do the lemans edition have that the standard C5's don't?

Anyway, the vette only came with one key (no fob) and so it's a pain to open and close ect and I need a fob for the car asap. On a brief look, it seems possible to program a fob your self and I've read the guide on how to do so.

Only thing is, do I need to buy a genuine GM fob from the dealers or can I get one from ebay/autozone ect and program it myself?

By the way, I love the car! Still more to explore

I bought a fob from ebay last week. Check it fits with your year.

you can program it yourself.
1-Turn the ignition to RUN
2-Turn the radio off
3-Press the RESET button in order to clear any IPC warning messages
4-Press the Option button on the DIC until the IPC display is blank in order to enter the program mode
5-Press and hold the Reset button for 3 seconds
6-Press the option button until FOB Training message is displayed
7-Press the Reset button in order to begin the programming sequence.
8-Simultaneously press and hold the lock an unlock buttons on the first transmitter for 12 seconds. The IPC will indicate when that transmitter is programmed and when to proceed to the next .Repeat this step for each transmitter.

cannot help on lemans edition.

LeMans Edition Coupe and Vert:

* LeMans Blue exterior paint
* Crossed flag embroidery on seat headrests
* Unique commemorative road wheel centers
* silver front and rear emblems with inserts to recall Corvette's success at LeMans with the words "Commemorative 24:00 Heures Du Mans 2 GT Wins."
* Commemorative coupes and convertibles had "Commemorative" stitched into their seat backs, and convertibles had silver crossed flag commemorative emblems on their between-seatback "waterfall" panels.

Commemorative Z06s had features not found on convertibles and coupes. Most significant was a carbon fiber hood. Z06s had a C5R-inspired silver and red striping scheme for the hood, roof and rear deck. Also, commemorative Z06 wheels, while the same design as the standard Z06s, were polished, a first for C5 Z06 wheels.

Coupe and convertible Commemorative Editions had shale interiors which blended a lighter value of gray-beige for seats and carpeting with a darker gray-beige for console, instrument panel and upper door panels. Z06 Commemorative Editions had black interiors.

1SB Z06 equipment included Commemorative Edition LeMans Blue exterior paint and trim, black interior, silver and red striping for hood, roof and rear deck, carbon fiber hood and polished Z06-style wheels.

1SC coupe and convertible equipment group included 1SB equipment plus Magnetic Selective Ride Control, Commemorative Edition LeMans Blue exterior paint and trim, shale interior and polished (QF5) wheels.

Hope this helps. Just look on your RPO sticker on the inside of the glove box door and if it says 1SC for coupe/vert or 1SB for Z06, you do have the Commemorative Edition package on the car.
