Which gears do I have?
Hey guys, I know kind of a dumb question but I was just curious if you guys would know off the top of your head what gears my vette might have? I have a 2003 50th anniversary 6-speed coupe, targa top. I didn't know if that year or specific kind had 3:15 or 3:42's or what.
I'm at work just playing around with ideas of what to do next after I do my heads/cam swap in a month. Hoping for mid to low 11's at the track.

If your car is totally stock, you have 3.42 rear gears.

All manual transmission C5's left the factory with 3.42 rear differentials.
The Z06 has different gear ratios, but its different on the actual gears in the transmission, the differential is still 3.42. The transmission gears are equivalent to a having a 3.90 diff on a non-Z06 transmission.
Automatics came with 2.73, and 3.15 was optional.
You got a 3.42, if you're looking for performance, 4.10 is probably what you want to go with. You'll be trading a few miles per gallon for more smiles per gallon
