Hey guys maybe you guys can help me out,. I've been having a problem with the car heating up past 220 (half mark). When the ac is on the car tends to overheat for some reason, and yesterday I was driving up a hill no AC on and the car started to heat up so after the hill I threw it on neutral and the cars temp returned to normal, I've changed the radiator, thermostat, the water pump, checked the hoses, and the antifreeze but I still keep having that problem. If I drive around in the summer just on the streets with the AC on I have no heating problems but If I take it on the freeway it goes way past 220 almost to the red I haven't let it climb that far. Hopefully you guys have an idea on what the problem could be. I'm thinking it may be the headers gasket but before I dive into that mess I was hoping to get some ideas on other possible problems, I think the pressure returning to the engine from the radiator is too strong and when it goes to the radiator it's not enough, Thanks guys
Before you went and changed everything, you should have taken it in to have it diagnosed by a pro. Might have saved you some money. It could be as simple as an air pocket in the cooling system. Does it seem to run OK except for the temp?
Yeah it runs good and I had taken it to the Chevy dealership but they couldn't find anything so I am still at a loss unfortunately as to what could be the problem. How could the air pocket problem be solved? I'm sorry I don't know a whole lot about cars
I appreciate all the help guys!, 8vette7 I'll check on that surge tank cap and as far as the fans they are working properly, and my dad tried burping the car,. Thanks for the help I'll check to see if that works
