So the 17 year old was driving solo. Entered a left hand turn lane, light was red, began to stop...light turned green, he downshifts and adds a weeee bit of gas....lost control, tail swung out, hopped the curb, slid across the grass, impacted a tree at the right rear wheel, spun 180 degrees back around and parked with the front tires on the curb. Passenger window exited the door, door skin separated at the bonding strip, right and left rear suspension busted up, right and left rear quarters damaged, both air bags went off. Trunk lid seemed to operate ok, rear fascia not damaged.
I'm thinking its a loss. Kinda hoping as well. most cars like these don't do well after these kind of wrecks.
I arrived at the scene as he was circling the car wondering what to do dazed. I told him to sit down in my other car. Then I asked him one question..."Did you turn the traction control off?"
YUP!
I had just driven the car with him in the passenger seat and had told him probably the 10th time, not to turn that button off as you don't have the skills to drive the car without it.
Maybe had I kept my yap shut, he wouldn't have turned it off.
