0-60 times

The factory published time for an A4 was around 5.2 seconds and that was with a professional driver behind the wheel. If when you run the car you are happen to spin the tires, you are losing time. Do you have the car in the competitive driving mode? More details on the runs would help.

Do you have the car in the competitive driving mode? More details on the runs would help. The published 0-60 time for an automatic coupe was 5.0 I'm not 100% sure but I believe that was for the 3.15 performance axle and 5.2 was for the standard 2.73 axle. I know 4.5 was for 6speed coupes.
oP there are so many different factors that would affect that now road condition, condition of tires, trans, state of tune etc and if you had the traction control on or off. My 77kmi 01 felt like a dog when I first bought it especially compared to my modded 99', a quick change of plugs, wires and some throttle body and mass air cleaning made a HUGE difference in the power it was hiding.
And if the word "stopwatch" appears anywhere in the description of how the times are measured, all bets are off. I'm not up on the current tech the factory and magazines use to measure such things...presumably it's better than the 5th-wheel recorders they used in the past. Trying to replicate those numbers with any kind of manual measurement is an exercise in frustration.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Funny that this should come up, I was just wondering the same thing a few days ago.
I have a 98' coupe with an A4, 3:15 rear end.
My mods (the ones pertinent to this thread) are: LS6 intake, Kooks LT headers, X pipe, and axle back. I have a Yank SS 3400 stall TQ converter installed.
I'm running Sumitomo 275/40/18's on the rear. The day I did my runs was about 35 degrees, but dry weather.
I have about 100 pounds of extra weight in the car, between the sound deadening material, amplifiers, subwoofer, and wiring.
I have about 20 pounds of extra weight in the car between my shoulders and my ***.
I had 3/4 tank of gas when I started, less when I finished.
I had a laptop hooked up to the car to data log with HP Tuners. I also have a WB o2 sensor installed.
I did two runs, immediately back-to-back.
When reviewing the data log on HP Tuners, I saw that;
The first run I did logged 5.2 seconds.
The second run I logged 5.0 seconds.
On both runs, I hesitated at the 6000 RPM mark to let the car shift to second.....I just don't like to rev the engine that high.
It's almost fast enough for me.....for now.
IHTH,

P.S. I was manually shifting the car [automatic] at 5600 rpm's to get the best times. We used to call that "short shifting" and believe it or not many times it will produce quicker times!
