Sounds like God needs to bleed the air out of the cooling system.

Try this:

Fill the cooling system through the surge tank.
Fill the cooling system with a 50/50 mixture of DEX-COOL® coolant and deionized water.
Start the engine.
Allow the engine to idle for 1 minute.
Install surge tank cap.
Cycle the engine RPMs from idle to 3000 in 30 second intervals until the coolant temperature reaches 99°C (210°F).
Shut off the engine.
Remove the surge tank cap.
Start the engine.
Allow the engine to Idle for 1 minute. Fill the surge tank to 12.7 mm (0.5 in) above the COLD FULL mark on the surge tank.
Install the surge tank cap.
Cycle the engine RPMs from idle to 3000 in 30 second intervals until the coolant reaches 99°C (210°F).
Shut off the engine.
Remove the surge tank cap.
Top off the coolant as necessary, 12.7 mm (0.5 in) above FULL COLD mark on the surge tank.
Rinse away any excess coolant from the engine and the engine compartment.
Inspect the concentration of the engine coolant.
Install the surge tank cap.

That is a possibility. Did you recently have the cooling system opened up?

You didn't give a lot of info to go on...but another possibility is a missing or severely damaged center air dam and/or a front spoiler/splitter that does not allow sufficient air flow. You still need the center air dam even with a spoiler/splitter that allows air flow.

Good luck!

Post a picture of what you have.. Maybe a full explanation with a bit if history would be beneficial.

If overheating after opening the cooling system then an air lock would be feasible; but if overheating from the time you bought the car then that would be different.

Then yes; follow the procedure to eliminate air in the system and you should be good to go!

Repeat until successful.

Besides putting the air dams back in the car, make sure the radiator area, both in front of the radiator and through/behind the radiator is clear from debris. The C5 is a bottom feeder and it acts like a vacuum cleaner going down the road, sucking up leaves, plastic bags, etc. as it goes along.

If any of those areas are clogged, the car will not cool properly and it will overheat.

Thanks a lot...yes for sure i.m going to install those air dams...radiator is clean,,,now i can see that coolant go back is like going out from reservoir...there is no leaks in any hose or a broken tank...could be the thermostat?? Maybe it is no opening...
