Default What to upgrade with hp increase?

Good Day!
I may have a chance at getting a great deal on a twin turbo system for my 2000 M6 Z51 coupe.

Now, I realize that a great deal on a tt system is only part of the cost.

As the system can be tuned for a large range of hp output, I would like to ask,
What needs to be upgraded when you are putting down:
400 rwhp
450 rwhp
500 rwhp
550 rwhp?

What I would really like to know is when hp really starts to cost money. I'm fine with a new clutch but at what point do you need a transmission brace? Larger injectors? Or hardened half shafts? Or a rebuild on the transmission with Viper parts? Engine mounts for a reliable build?
I realize I am missing a lot of other required items that may be needed so any insight to what parts need to be upgraded at certain power levels would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks!!!

You might want to post this in the tech section to get more in depth answers. I would say it all depends on how you are going to use the car. Launching it down a 1/4 mile track will require different mods than tracking it. For spirited street driving I would say you don't have to worry much about anything till you start passing the 450 mark. Injectors, tune etc should be part of the kit and installation. Make sure you have a reputable shop do it and they will be able to inform you better on what is needed and depending on use/power recommended. Have fun, be safe.

Its hard to say what is "safe". Above 500hp, you may break some drivetrain components, especially during launches.

at 500 or 550, its smart to put in a transmission brace. They're not that expensive for what they accomplish (especially when you compare them to the cost of a built transmission!).

If you're below 600hp, and you don't abuse the drivetrain, I think you'll be fine without upgraded transmission or differential. Those upgrades get real expensive real fast.

You'll definitely need a new clutch. There's lots of good options, plenty of threads about it.

You'll want new tires with more grip, and probably wider wheels if you still have stock sized ones. There's no use having 500hp if you can't put it on the ground!

You'll need an upgraded fuel system. Boost-A-Pump is probably not going to cut it. A larger 340lph drop in fuel pump would probably do the trick for 500hp. 340lph pump plus BAP for 550 IMO.

It would be wise to upgrade the cam while you're doing the install. Its not necessary, but you'll basically get an extra 30hp or so from it. Not much extra labor to do it.

Above 500, ARP studs and better headgaskets are a good idea, but not necessary. Lots of people run 500hp on stock engines.

Upgrading the heads and intake is not very cost effective for your goals.

Excellent. Thank you for your thoughts guys. I am amazed at how much power can be put through these cars without major upgrades.
As for driving, spirited street and maybe a few trips to the quarter mile but Im not going to be using drag radials for hard launches.

Again, Thanks for the input.
