I was cruzin around last night with some buddies, a few were on their bikes, and the rest were in our cars. Well we are driving down the road and of course I was the center of attention (because who doesn't love to watch the Z06 roll down the road) because I was the only one with a vette, well my buddy pull up along side me and says lets roll, well I couldn't let him down, so I shifted from 5th to 3rd and all he heard was a loud chirp and the roar from a Titanium Exhaust. My question is, has anyone else done the 5th to 3rd and chirpped 3rd gear? I LOVE THIS DANG CAR!!!!!!
Actually, a chirp shifting down several gears is not at all uncommon, but NOT good, unless you got your chirp by doing a heel toe double clutch downshift, and you got too many revs. Reason tires chirp on the downshift is the gears in the trans will want to be spinning way faster than the wheels, and when the clutch comes out, the momentum of the tires has to equal that of the trans. Try that on a slippery road and you'll find yourself in a ditch.
I used to have a friend that would do the same thing in his 68' Camaro. He thought it was cool until I told him he acctually didn't have the RPM's up high enough to be doing that. The down shift actually was "braking" the car until he hit the gas and the initial jolt made the tires skid a little. I think this is what Black2001Z06 is saying. I am not saying that is happening in your case, but is a possiblity.

Yes sounds like that back end locked up for a split second hence the chirp. I agree a wet road could mean trouble. Be careful
Thanks alot for all the input guys. I sort of figured it was not a good thing, but then again I thought hey it is a Z06 why shouldn't it be able to do that!!!!
