Hi all, my c-5 will be needing a new battery in the spring. I am wondering what the general opinion is regarding brand or ratings or size, or whether there is something new out worth considering. Thanks for any help in this matter.
I bought an optima battery because its gel and will not leak, remember the wiring harness for the c5 is directly under the battery box.............with my expiration date drawing near the battery had trouble keeping a full charge, i received a new one at no charge, would i buy another optima, you bet i would. Just my experience / option. Have a nice day.........

Posted this in your thread in the C5 Parts for Sale section also:
I've had a Sears DieHard Platinum in mine for 4 1/2 years and it has been trouble free. It wasn't cheap, but can't complain about its performance.
Before that I had an Optima Red Top in the car and it died just past the three year mark. In all fairness though, I had a Red Top in the '00 I owned and it lasted for better than seven years and was still working fine when I sold the car.
Ditto W/Laurent z06 comment. I use the CTEK3300 yr round. Had a red top for over 6 yrs & only replaced it to play safe. I use a battery mat under the battery as extra protection.
I went with a Die Hard AGM battery. Cost was $166 for the model intended for the C5. The AGM has less battery acid than a standard battery, but doesn't have the cost of a red top. Almost done with winter here, I just started it up after sitting for a while. Didn't even crank slow or show any sign of sitting. I'm very pleased for the $$$ spent.
BTW, I tried to buy a red top last year. There were none available. Don't know if that's still true, but there was some sort of manufacturing problem.
