I recently bought a backup camera for my C5. I want to hook it up so it's always on with a toggle switch to turn it off and on instead of using the backup lights. I'm not sure how to hook up the wiring for a toggle switch. I also need power to the toggle switch for the camera. It needs power for both the camera and monitor. Help would be greatly appreciated.
I have just what you need. I have a traction control plate with a modified ride select **** to operate the backup camera like you are wanting. Very simple hook up. This is a two position switch. Gives you on demand camera. If your car does not have the ride select option then you can use this. Looks factory. I have the three position ride select switch that operates a front and rear camera but requires a dual relay circuit I made to make it function. Here is a pic of the one I have in my car now. Lettering stands for Front Camera, Normal mode, Rear Camera. Shoot me a pm if interested.

Word of caution. Check the install requirements on your camera. Some cannot have a constant 12v feed. If the power is fed constantly it can fry the camera. Ask me how I know. Power should only be fed while camera is in use. One reason I incorporated a.relay circuit. Power is only applied to whichever camera is selected and in use.
I only need power to the monitor and 1 camera. I don't care how it is hooked up as long as I can turn it off. I really want it on while I'm driving most of the time. I don't want to mess with the backup lights. I already blew the relay where the backup lights don't work right now. I bought the parts to replace.
The feed from the backup light is to give the monitor a 12v signal and switch it to camera mode when put in reverse. This is if you have a double din display. Do you have a double din head unit or a separate monitor just for back up display.
This is the relay pack I made to operate a two camera set up. I used mechanical relays. I have installed this in two C5 vettes. The other pic shows the back side of the one camera two position switch that was modified. I just removed the wires from the switch that ran to the circut board and wired the switch into the backup camera circut.
