Seen a lot of threads over the years on both the z06 and magnesium wheels for the c5 (these were an option for a period of time), however, nothing directly comparing the trade off in weight of the magnesium vs. the contact patch on the c5z wheel.
So I've been wondering, is the bigger contact patch on the c5z wheel worth the weight trade-off of the magnesium wheel?
Also, has anyone noticed a difference in MPG between these two wheels on a base c5? I know the magnesium wheels will give you better MPG, but was wondering if anyone noticed on the digital display.

Reason: Mag to magnesium
The Z06 wheels are light. OK, I don't have a clue how much a set of Z06 tires/wheels weighs compared to base model tires/wheels... many aftermarket "mags" will likely weigh in higher.
Sorry, I guess I need to clarify, the magnesium wheels that were an option on the c5, these are lighter than the c5 z06 wheels, was looking to see if this trade off was worth the contact patch difference on the c5z wheels.
I seriously doubt that there is enough difference in weight between the two to lose any sleep over as far as gas mileage. The difference in unsprung weight might matter to a serious racer but only at the upper end of the scale. Run what you like and don't fret the details unless you are making dramatic changes to width and/or diameter.
