Hi I'm new to this, so please bare with me. I'm thinking of buying a corvette , haven't had one in 46yrs & they have changes alot.
Looking at a 98 coupe 59,000 miles automatic it's spot less & the owner has all the service records ,asking price is $17000.00
The 2nd is a 99 convertible 99,000 miles manual shift also is spot-less & the owner also has all service records & asking $17,000.00
My question is what if any each car had for problems (pro & con ) of each . Thanks for any infromation or help.
Dennis
1st is overpriced, 2nd is way overpriced. If you are willing to spend that much, start looking for a 2001 up.
There were several improvements from 2001 and up, of course some would say the last year of any given run is usually the best .. they have had time to work out the kinks. Good luck with your search, hope you join the C5 family GREAT cars!
I am the original owner of a 98 coupe. 44000 miles, this has been a very good car. These cars are worth what someone is willing to pay.
True depends on demographics of the region the car is in... the condition, mileage, options, etc.. lots of dynamics involved. It does boil down to what your willing to pay.

Some very good advice in here. The '01 and up C5s had a lot of improvements made to them compared to the '97-00 cars. Not saying the earlier cars are bad, it's just for the same if not a little more money, you get more bang for your buck in terms of standard equipment and platform improvements.
However, if you decide the '98 or '99 is the car for you, just be aware that some items, like the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module), is a non-repairable part at this time and if it goes out, finding a used one can be expensive. Just be sure you have the car checked out by a trusted mechanic if you are not familiar with the C5 platform. And I do think that both of those cars are overpriced, especially the'99.

I bought a nice '98 convertible with 67,000 miles for $9700. No, it is not perfect. A few scratches below the doors and it is going to get some new seat covers. Runs great and a lot of fun.
Try to go 2001 and newer if at possible. And I own a 98. Good luck to you.
I agree with looking for an '01 & up.
Those prices are too high. I'd keep looking, there are bargains out there. I bought a 12,300 mile '99 garage queen almost two years ago for $17,500.. wasn't looking for a '99 but couldn't make myself pass it up.
