I am enjoying my recent acquisition and keep reading that folks have lowered their car by reversing the bolts on the stock shocks. (hope I am saying that right).
Can someone explain the process, how much it lowers the car, and if there any issues.
The backs are easy. Just loosen the bolts that go through the spring on each side until you get the right height you want. The fronts are not to bad either. Just turn the bolts on each side of the spring counter clockwise until you get the height you want. The fronts can be a bit tricky sometimes though. If they are corroded in the springs then it will be a little more work. Mine were corroded so bad I had to take the spring out and work the bolts in a vise to get them to turn. Read some of the links that have been posted and you will have a better idea of what it's all about.
Just lowered the rear on my FE1 suspension about 3/4 of an inch which is max without re-alignment. Looks better to me and was very, very simple. I didn't want to mess with the fronts... just wanted to sit level and equal wheel space in the fender wells.
Your car should not sit level. The front should be around 1/2" lower than the rear for correct alignment.
