Well you'd be rich wouldn't you
however in this case I did have my cruise set, thats the whole point I even bothered this forum with this thread because I don't know Jack about Lasers or Radars really and wanted to know why the cop was saying I was going 89 when I had my cruise set, I didn't know if he got a bad reading or how it worked.

Are you saying in your 28 years as being a cop you never once got a bad radar or laser reading?
You have said your cruise was set at such and such. In court, they would conclude by finding you guilty because YOU HAVEN'T stated how fast you were traveling. Just because your cruise (which is in no way calibrated by the way) was set at something, That does not mean you observed your speedometer and that is the speed you were traveling. This is something honest people always do when they are in this situation. They cannot lie so they go with the closest truth and hope it carries. You could be President with this art. Remember.... "I never had sexual relations with that woman" Now consider "I set my cruise to 89-90" You stated something that you did sometime between when you started driving and when you were pulled over. You did not say you were travelling at such and such and knew this because you saw it on your speedometer. It's an honest mans bluff...

So what do you think he would have said if someone asked if she performed any sexual acts on him?

LASERS do not make mistakes and are as precise as any scientific instrument. After all, that's what it is; an instrument tested and approved by government and court to provide scientific precision. The machine doesn't make a mistake; the operator does....which brings you back to trying to prove an officer made a mistake. Did you get a picture of him looking the other way when he got you? Did he say "You were one of a few and i saw you pulling away"

Will do. My original advise at the end of the day will be your best. Dress nice, go to court and ask for leniency if you are looking for leniency. If you are believing the officer is wrong, contest it. Unsubscribed!

Oh and just as a side point, there was no trolling whatsoever. The advise you received on the laser and court proceedings is from first hand knowledge. If you are looking for a crowd to agree with you and tell you how right you are, enjoy.

Certified both in radar and laser. Anytime I have any posible wrong readings based on my training and experience I would not even stop the car in question. After what I thought was a bad reading I would run a check on the unit to ensure it was operating properly.

Now to add a different light to the situation. Are their bad cops out their? YES. Could you have run into an *******? YES. So that being said all things equal that is another posibility. If nothing else if you can go to court and try to speak with the cop prior to court and see if he will reduce it to 10 or less over the limit. On my days in traffic court I normally have 30 -50 cases and will clear about half before I even get into court with people who ask for a break on their speed. Good luck what ever you do.

Don't bother with an attorney. They just bargain a no contest plea in exchange for no points. Rarely does an attorney actually fight a case and its even rarer for him to win.

Now you are being a dick. Allflash makes a good point. For the purpose of the court, what you set your cruise control at is not acceptable testimony as to what your speed is. Its completely irrelevant. What the laser says your speed was is 100% relevant. You lost the case the moment the laser hit your car. No they don't make mistakes. The laser is a simple point and click operation. If the readout says you were doing 89, you were doing 89. The judge will look at the radar log which has the last service date, the calibration for that day and the entry on your car. The gavel will come down and you will have the fine ad the points. I am not sure what more you need to hear. You asked a question then disregard the answers you are given. Next time tell us up front what answer you want and we will all save time.

Is your daily driver all stock? or does it have any mods like larger than stock tires sizes that could throw off your speed possibly.

Here are my 2 cents worth as a retired police officer. If you were speeding and know it, pay the ticket. A police officer monitoring speed can only stop one vehicle at a time, regardless of whether there were a number of other vehicles traveling at the same speed. I don't know if they offer supervision or driving school (usually done on-line now) as an option to a plea agreement so it doesn't go on your driving record. We all speed from time-to-time and unfortunately, you got caught. No one likes receiving a ticket and it's certainly not one of life's most pleasant experiences. On the other hand, it's not the end of the world. Good luck.
