To me they just looked like the Corvette Team put all their effort into designing the car thinking they could always find a wheel somewhere, but when they were done realized they only had $4.00 left in the budget and those were the only wheels they could find for $1.00 each at an army surplus?
There are worse wheels than wagon wheels. Not their best design, though.
These were the worst Corvette wheels:
At least these ones had a functional reason for being so ugly. Before the day's of brake cooling ducts in the C5, these really did a nice job of cooling the C4 brakes.
The wagon wheels don't even have that excuse. With that said I think as they age they won't be so bad. Think about the C3's with the trim ring/cap's. Thousands of those were replaced back in the day with Crager's ect. Now the cool thing is to bring them back.
With those wheel on the Car is like being dressed in a tuxedo with tennis shoes on. I had them on my car when new, could not wait to get them of the car. There were some color cars that they looked ok on, but not many.

I liked the looks of the C3 ralley wheels with rings and caps. They were horrible wheels though. Bent really easily. Had to replace all of them on my C3 because they were bent.

Had those on a 69' Camaro in high school!! They looked great!
The chrome ones I actually like more then the painted ones too. I have a set of painted ones in my back yard and am going to get the tires removed so I can make some end tables out of them. Bolt 2 together (1 front & 1 rear) and get a round glass top for them and wha'la.....cool tables...
I have the wagon wheels, still vanilla. Still very stock, still no pop IMO, Want to go with the Y z06 c6 wheels but getting confused.
Stock were17/18 but was told I could go with the 18/19 rims.
Does anybody have pictures of 18/19 on their C5? I'm concerned about the offset and the look and knowing the exact size of the tires I should buy.
I have to rememebr the people telling me they'll look good, also want my money. Where as my CF buddies have nothing to gain but helping a Vette friend. Don't mean to high jack thread.
My first Vette was a '98. I did and still do like them. When the thin spokes came out, while I still had my '98, I hated them. I thought the designers sold out and went with the most ricer looking wheel they could copy up. They looked like the same wheel every Honda was running at that time. Ironically, used wagon wheels are popular with VW's and look very good on older Jettas, etc. I don't have any pics of that but someone posted pics like that before.

Appreciate the help.:c onfused2:
If you go to tirerack.com, and enter your car's details, and ask for new wheels and tires, they will show factory sizing, offset, etc. That's a good starting point for wheel education, so to speak.
I ended up buying C5 compatible 18/19's and C6 size tires from them - have been a customer for years now. They will also instal new TPMS sensors, very useful if you are buying awheel/tire combo.
