I would check the light output on the tinted ones during the day so you can see if anyone is going to have issues seeing your brake lights. I tinted mine but I have the LED's and I went with a light tint paint job on them. They still show up pretty decent during the day. I wouldn't go to dark.
I was on the fence about it and I love the look but I would much rather have people see my taillights rather than not, and end up rear ending me. And then there is the fact that they are illegal and why give the cops a reason to pull me over.
Tint the rear taillights because it looks great. Get rear ended because someone "says" they can't see my taillights. End up in court and lose because of the tint.
The exhaust is getting there. Lol it's been sitting for the last 4 months, still a work in progress. I should have it done with in the next month, the rest of the vinyl came in yesterday but they shipped the wrong color, so I'm just kind of waiting on that to finish. Those led tail lights look pretty good. 350-400 seems a bit high for me right now. I'm trying keep things pretty cheap.
I love the look of tinted tail lights. I bought a set, but when I put them on, I thought it made the tail lights too dim. I would upgrade to a set of brighter LED bulbs to put in the rear lights, and then I would feel fine about the tail lights.
I decided to go with the covers because I didn't want to ruin my only set of tail lights. If I had an extra set of tails I would have gotten them professional tinted. But for now...
You should check WA State laws regarding tinting of the tail lamps. I believe there are requirements for brightness of the lights at certain distances. WA state law also requires red reflectors at the back of the car. Tinted lamp housings may not satisfy that requirement and it's a good reason to an LEO to pull you over. Maybe just for "fishing" but you can get a ticket for no reflectors.
It looks like you also have window tint; pretty much all LEO's carry a card that determines if the tint meets state law (35% I think) If the tint looks too dark, that's another reason to get pulled over by The Man.
