The coupe actually has two antenna. One in the top of the windshield, the other in the top of the rear hatch window. Having both allows for better reception.

I've got a coupe and the radio reception is pretty bad. Thank goodness for Sirius and bluetooth.

OK...thanx for the cute replies but REALLY.....why are they both not the same in the same model year...??? What IS going on here...???
The answer was given to you. You just had to connect the dots.
The coupe has 2 antennas, one on the windshield and one on the rear glass.
Since putting an antenna on the rear hatch is not possible on a Vert, the antenna system was replaced with a fender antenna.

Thanx man...I guess I wasn't thinking of it that way
Seems like I remember about a fix to keep the antenna from coming up when listening to a CD...???
Some say Gm feared the convertible consumer wouldn't go for the crummy reception of the antenna buried in a glass insulation, so only put the lousy printed wire antennas on the second string product.
Additionally , some say hard top car customers are so despised by GM that they have installed special ignition switches in the cobalt and other less than top of line models to rub them out for good. Other companies use air bag attacks against these same despised customers, some say.

Some of us vert guys have replaced the long power antenna with the short (stubby) fixed type. However, you also have to replace the bracket with the type used in the Z06 and FRC.
