**SIGH** Ive been looking to purchase a C5 Z06 for a couple months. 2 people "decided the car is too sentimental" as soon as i requested the vehicle be smogged and inspected by a shop that i trust, seems a little suspect. 3 people want absurd ammount for theirs, im sorry, idc how clean your Z is, im not paying 4k$ over KBB especially if it need tires. Is it so much to ask to find an 02-04 Red C5Z with Approx 30k miles for a reasonable price? One day....
What are the prices you are seeing? I had my eye on an '02 red/mod red for $22K before I bought the speedway white Z. From my research I'd say if the car is in good shape and decent miles you are looking at $20-22K easy.
Ive had my eye on a red 02 33k, immaculate condition, but the seller WILL NOT accept less than 24.5 and it need tires like ASAP. When i looked at the car a month ago KBB was 21.9, today its 23.1k. I offered 23.5. Theres another yellow 03, 30k miles, guy wants 30k$....Seriously?
Sounds like you are looking local. Expand your search. But know that there will be transport costs that will need to be factored into the price. I highly recommend you only use KBB or NADA (preferred by me) as a guide. When buying anything it is worth whatever anyone is willing to buy it for. The example you gave above of being $1k apart on price is ridiculous on both parties IMO for being so close. That is not much money if it is the right car and if I am wanting to buy. His price is not absurd and neither is your offer. It comes down to what can either of you afford. If this car is it then you might want to reconsider meeting in the middle. I think $500 is a good compromise. But again that is me IF I were wanting to buy this car. Good luck.

FYI. I just purchased a 2004 Z06 Commerative with 28K miles two owner for $24K. PS make sure you always get the car inspected by a good shop before you close the deal. Good luck in your search and as someone posted you should look beyond your local market.

I looked for a year to find a low miles C-5-Z ,not easy to find people know other people are looking and looking for C-5zs the price has gone up for sure that is good if going to sell to buy not so much. Vet/Finders is good place to look just have to have money ready and keep looking and looking and bam when you fine one have to move on it if you don't someone will .I found a Z-16 with 37,000 mods $22,000 on the this Forum 30 min, after it came out with in a Hr. money was on it's way 3 days later the truck pulled in to my driveway and bam great buy. He had video of the 04 I did a quick check on him all checked out and bam done deal.. Buying a nice low miles and great shape C5-Z NOT EASY thing to do if looking for a deal if don't mind paying the high price can fine one we all B looking for a deal ..Good luck with that .. My Z-16 NOT FOR SALE ...
Take your time to find the right one and timing is also not on your side since spring time is approaching. Best time to buy sport cars is usually end of summer. I would expand your search and drive within 4-5 hrs to pick up one. I got mine 5hrs away, and in long distance purchases communication is the key..also keep in mind NO ONE will tell you the whole the truth so just keep asking questions until you feel comfortable to go and pick it up. Depending on the scarcity of the car in your area, local sellers always play tough...before I got mine, I had offered a local guy just like you $1000 less from what he was asking and he played tough the whole time. Try telling me that's what they go for and how rare they are and other b.s....long story short the same guy couldn't sell the car even after lowering by $4k a year later.
My thinking is always "you have the money, therefore the ball is in your court" so take your time, such cars are never an investment. good luck
What area are you looking in (I may have missed it, but I don't see your location in your profile)? I have some numbers of Z's for sale when I was looking. You're getting into the part of the season where you won't have much bargaining power.
People over value these cars way too much. You can pick up a C6 with less miles for the prices some of these people are asking.
Yes over priced for sure but nothing like owning a Z-06 a low miles nice C-5 Z06 $22- $25,000 that is the going price .Having fun in a nice Z Corvette priceless..
GM, once you own one you will understand the value that the seller is putting on it...
