Default Demon Key Question..

I am putting a new shift **** on and the demon key doesn't seem to fit right. It does slide inside the **** okay, but seems to large for the opening where it slides into the shaft. Any advise on if this is the way it is or is the key to big? It's for a 98 whether that makes any difference or not.

Instead of using the key you can buy a 9/16-18 threaded nut, preferably a thin jam nut or thin down a stainless nut. Jam it up against the **** and do away with the evil key. You can adjust the height that way, especially if you run the threads down further with a die.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have thought about doing that.

I went to Ace Hardware and bought the size of nut recommended by striper. From what the guy was telling that helped me find it, the 18 says that it's a fine thread. USE THIS INFORMATION WITH CAUTION OR AT OWN RISK. Anyway the nut worked. Make sure you tell them you want a jam nut or you will get a big bulky nut.
