Default trany pan deep or shallow

Does anyone know on a 98 stock corvette, what tranny pan, deep or shallow comes on it. Is there any way to tell before I tear into it. I ordered a deep filter but now Im not sure.

I had a '98 with an auto. When I changed the fluid it was a shallow pan. A deep pan would noticeably hang down between the exhaust pipes if you had one. Probably at least 4" deep or more.

Called the dealer because no one really knows. Guess what the dealer cant even tell me. If it is a shallow pan 2 & 11/32 deep so I have to drive it over the pit and check it first. I think the parts place ordered a deep one but am thinking it is probably a shallow. Manual states 10.5 capacity and 5 quarts with a filter. Now that should tell the dealer which pan it is by the capacity. So out to waste some time checking before I tear into it. I want it hot to drain and refill. About 108 degrees.

On my 99, I thought it was deep because the filter had an extra tube going down into the bump in the pan. When i did mine i bought one from the dealer and they ordered it. It fit no problems but as i said, had the tube on the bottom of the filter. When in doubt, buy 1 of each and return unused one.

It did take the deep pan filter. The pan measured as a shallow on from the exterior but go figure. It doesn't hang down lower. I guess at the deep filter and got an AC Delco. The pan was cleaner than any other tranny pan I have pulled. Even the fluid looked good. I was able to put a little less than 5 quarts back into it. Can any one tell me what the date coding is on the old filter? It has ( 13 07 ) stamped on it. Since I have a 98 vette , it could be the original or could be a new one made in 2013 seventh month. ????? just wondering if it was changed.
