Any thoughts on a good "detailing vacuum cleaner" - I don't need a million attachments but among them should be a "small rotary brush" deal that that will get stuff that's "hooked into the carpets."
If you also need a lightweight vacuum for the house, I'd kill two birds with one stone and get the Dyson DC44 (or whatever the current model is). Same ballpark price as the purpose-built detailing vacs, but a lot more versatile.
If you don't need the stick/floor attachments, I think they sell just the handheld portion.
Well, I believe that the sophisticated Corvette owner should have and use nothing less than a Kirby and of course their optional Kirby Turbo Rotary Brush attachment. It really sucks!

When our vacuum cleaner needs detailing I get the wife to first remove the old bag (not her). I make sure she cleans the attachments and the hose. Inspects the cord and puts a fresh coat of wax on it.

Hope that helps.
Nah, the wax just makes the dog hair stick to the case.

I got an awesome one from my daughter at Christmas. Can't remember the brand right now, but it hangs on the wall in the garage with 30 feet of flexible hose and a remote on/off on the hose nozzle. Additionally, it pops right off of the mounting bracket with an extra long cord if you need more reach! Lots of power too. When I get home I'll check on the manufacturer and re-post! Zuti

Just wanted to add my .02 on this matter. I took my Outback(otherwise known as the dog car) to a detailer near me to have a quick clean-up all the time laughing under my breath knowing that he would have to work for HOURS to get out all the dog hair in there( about 8 mths worth).
Upon picking it up 3 hrs later the inside was SPOTLESS and I had to ask him what kind of monster he used to do that and this is what he showed me. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ArmorAll-2-5-Gallon-2-0-Peak-HP-Utility-Vac-/251699869541?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a9a7b3765I actually bought one at Home Depot for about 50.00 and absolutely am amazed at the power and ease of use, as well as being versatile.
Highly recommended! ( doesn't have the rotating head but can't see where I would ever need one)
I have (and have had) several vacuums. If you are just needing something for the Corvette, there is not that much carpet area to clean? Not sure why you would need a bulky rotary head? If the floor mats get "that" dirty, it is time to pull them out and shampoo them!
I have the high end vacuum for the house, but for the garage, this is what I bought last year and I love it! I was looking for something that would not wake up the whole neighborhood and this one is almost silent. It also has a remote button on the handle which is nice.
