Default Purchasing help and suggestions

Hey all,

I was hoping to get some advise and suggestions before purchasing a c5 z06. So in the next few months I'll be looking to purchase a drivers/track-days c5 z06. It will not be my DD but it'll be something I drive 1-2 times during the week and something my father and Ir can double stint on track weekends. I'm thinking maybe 4-5 events a year. With that said I'm not looking for full track or even highly modified car. I'm thinking something with light mods (ie brakes, wheels and suspension) and has seen some track time. I'm not looking for a ton of HP, I want more handling and grip then power (for now, lol). At the same time I'm not looking for a garage queen but something that has been well maintained.

I'm looking for peoples input and suggestions. My price range is 17-18k.

What are you're guys thoughts? Also if you know of any cars that would be a good fit please let me know.

Kyle

PS, hopefully this is the right place for this post. If its not let me know and I will move it.

For $18k and since you said you plan on keeping it basically stock I'd look for an 02' with lower miles, yes you can get an 01 for that price with low miles but it won't have the 405hp or heads up display and you can get an 03-04 but it will probably have higher mileage without any real improvements over the 02 which is the best bang for the buck year Z06...

Just FYI and o don't know if it's still for sale but I saw a black 02 with 80kmi for an asking price of $16k on autotrader.com which seems like a great deal especially if it could be got for around $15k..,

stu12dozen - thanks for that. I appreciate it. There is a ton of information. Looks like I know what I will be reading through this weekend.

F&Yb0dluvr - I was thinking the same thing, 02 and newer. I really appreciate the info. I will have to see if that is still up on autotrader. Thanks for the heads up.
