Default power steering o rings

I had to remove my power steering pressure hose to do some work on my supercharger.

After I finished I now have a leak dripping on the floor. I inspected underneath the car and notice power steering fluid forming a drip on the pump right where the pressure hose threads in. I want to try a new o ring before investing further as this was the only hose I removed and reinstalled. Anyone know where I can get just an o ring for the pressure hose?

Because o-rings come in HUNDREDS of sizes, the easiest thing to do, would be to call your local dealer, and see if they have any in stock. Both the pressure and return rings are the same size.

If you can't locate one at a dealer, then the second option would be to remove the one you have, and go to a hardware store or industrial supply outfit like Graingers or McMaster-Carr, and match yours up with one they would have in stock.

are power steering o rings anything special or will a normal black rubber one work?

I spent 30+ years working with vacuum chambers, in the precision optics industry. All of our chambers had a number of O-rings. The two materials I saw O-rings were made of, were "Viton" and "buna-N". I've been retired for several years, but if my memory serves correctly, it was the "buna-N" rings that held up to higher temperatures more readily.

We sourced ours from industrial supply houses, so I'm sure these places had the higher quality materials as "standard". The garden variety, hardware store O-rings might be of questionable origin, but on the other hand, they don't see a lot of heat, and their need to withstand high pressure is also somewhat negligible.

I'm not making any guarantees, but a hardware store sourced o-ring might work just fine....

I had new PS O ring in stock. I though that if you had the measurement, you could get it before you start your repair. Not easy to measure such little rubber ring

I have a C6 and pulled the power steering pressure and return lines at the rack while doing a cam swap. I noticed only one O-ring so I must have lost the other while removing it.

I tried looking up part diagrams for a replacement but couldn't find anything yet. I'll probably just try to track down one of similar size.

Good thing you found out now! It's not laying around on the floor somewhere?

I looked around earlier but couldn't find it. It's definitely somewhere. I'll try again before getting a new one.

After some more searching the tube fitting is called "16x1.5mm with O-ring." Still not sure on the nominal o ring size (besides the dimensions Vette747 posted), but at least I have one for reference.
