I have watched Froggy's video on how to adjust the shifter and read número use instructions on how to install the c6 shifter in my C5 and am sure I have missed something.
After the initial install and test drive first and second gear were missing and reverse was difficult. After reading through all the posts I decided to losen it and adjust it( it four times in two days ) . I have done so four times and still have the same issues.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Just asking a question here... So, you're sure the trans is in neutral when aligning it? Reason I ask is I had a similar scenario, not exact, when replacing by bushings and had dissembled the shifter while in gear then tried to do the alignment procedure thinking it was in neutral.

I am 99.9% certain. And as I stated yesterday each time I have repeated the process I have ensured it was neutral.
So after a couple of days trying to get shifter right, and after reading butt loads of posts on the subject here are a few things that helped get it done. BTW it is complete now and during my test drive yesterday I really like the feel. Will put some miles on it this weekend and update.
About the installation. There are dozens of videos and articles about the install and they were al very helpful. These were just some additions to any one of them.
First, when removing the arm rest, be mindful of the length of the cord that attaches to the gas tank button. It is about 2" inches long and you are supposed to be able to reach up and up plug it. It can be done. Just a PITA. What I did to reinstall was splice about 12" onto each lead and tucked them away.
Next, be mindful of where your old shifter was located, there will likely be scuff marks on top of the openings of the shifter box where the torx screws go through to make this a little easier.
There is a notch in the linkage shaft within the brass connector that the torx screw should pass through when installing. It is easier to locate notch with a flashlight.
And lastly, before you button everything up check to make sure you have all of your gears. During my first attempt and a few subsequent additional ones it seemed as though 1st, 2nd, and reverse were the issues. If you don't have them all you will have to go through the "readjustment " steps as outlined in other posts.
One more thing. You can re-use your old boot. It took about 5 minutes a razor blade and a zip tie to modify mine for re use .
Well I got into the shifter alignment and noticed the rubber bushings were dry rotted. I suggest replacing them if doing a shifter alignment. Between the rubber bushings and the shifter alignment my 98's B&M shifter is much better.
