Busy week at work. Tell me what you guys think so far...
Took almost 1 whole day to do 1 center but a few more hours and some elbow grease and these wheels are going to SHINE !!!
Before the tear down
Paint stripping all centers
All 4 cleaned up and reading for sanding
Now the polishing begins.. This is the fun part lol
One DONE !! 3 to go
Messed with some filter for some Instagram pix looks cool
Lots of sanding. The wheels were pretty clean underneath the paint.
320-600-800-green clay bar/buff & polish
I'm woking on a similar project on original thin spokes. I'm finding that the final clean up is the toughest - minor scratches from tool marks etc. I'm using brown followed by white clay bar. The white - jewelers rouge - really makes a big difference. I keep a piece of 5000 on hand for the small clean up areas where i might have hit the wheel with the buffer - using a 4" grinder with a buffing wheel. I've taped off all of the metal parts on the grinder to minimize the small scars. I'm guessing I'll have 50 hours into the wheels when I'm done.
Do you plan on a finish or clear coat after the polishing?

I hear ya. It is a lot of work. I have machines for most of the work I do.
And air tools can be your best friend. Pm me if you want any pointers.
Frsr06 check these out I am doing as well. Dually 26s
These came new off the lathe so they were clean BUT still had deep machine lines. 320- lots and lots of 600 and then polish with buffing machine.
