First off I wish i knew what i did now, don't we all though.
Anyways,
I bought a c5 recently and was doing a thorough clean on it. While checking the trunk compartments I saw two plugs were unplugged (electronic suspension control) and decided to plug them back in to see what happened. Why mess with a good running no code throwing car you ask? Because I'm young and make mistakes lol. Well obviously someone before me had unplugged the ESC and gone through the BCM with a tech 2 and deleted the F45 RPO because I have front bilstein shocks and had no problems before.
I now have the service ride control and don't exceed 80mph warnings.
A member with a tech 2, dadaroo, was nice enough to try and help me. When he tried to go into my car with the T2 it wouldn't take the normal path, it kept skipping transmission select and asking about z49 or z45 (I can't remember) but it's the Canada RPO.
Maybe its because my car is a 98 and you can't just "delete" the f45 but instead reprogram the BCM and "leave out" the f45. But that's just a hunch I think I read somewhere on here.
So what do I or can I do? Thanks a ton, this place is great.
Another option to deleting the F45 RPO is to install simulators (10 ohm, 10 Watt resistors) to the electrical connectors where the F45 Shocks would have been connected. The Sims are plug and play resistors that have a matching plug to the car wiring and the 10 watt, 10 ohm resistors are the same thing but you have to solder them in place and then protect the resistors with heat shrink tubing or something similar to protect them from the elements.
See I have no idea how to do that and I know it isn't "hard" but I have no idea where or what the previous owner left me. Plus I'm really not that great with electronics.
I would do the reprogram if you aren't mechanically inclined, taking it to a shop to get them tuned out is pretty easy. Although Installing the resistors takes little to no electronic knowledge, just look up the procedure and give it a go!
I don't know that being a Canadian/American thing is a factor. I have a US car from Ohio and had it done here in Canada. No issues encountered. Mine were F55 however.
I would recommend once it is reprogrammed to remove the module from the car. . . Well now you know why
I was able to access the RPO for F45 with the Tech 2 yesterday. We just had to answer the Z49 question, and I tried it using Yes and No. However when I got there it would not let me do anything. The soft keys it told me to use just did nothing.
His 1998 path/directions was different than my 2001 since when I get to the RPO selections with my car I am directed to make them with the ENTER key.
Ryan, get under the car and see if the connectors for the shocks are there. If so getting the simulators to plug in might be easier for you.
There should be a 3 wire Black connector and a 2 wire Black connector at each shock. If you need more info like wire colors I can send you a PDF file.

It's ok... you'll still make mistakes when you get older too. I have used this phrase as a mantra for most of my life "If it's not broke, don't fix it."
you'll get it figured out... dadaroo and 8VETTE7 are awesome and will help you get it done. Good luck
