on the second set of michelins. purchased non run flats this time figuring they would ride better. Not only where they about the same price but they ride just as bad. Like all tire brands (i think) they are starting to ride hard after 15000 miles but have remained fairly quiet ( unlike some tire brands. The tread is like new but the ride feels like steel wheels. I can't see replacing them as they are like new as is said. Any comments (beside changing the air?)

Did you check your air pressure? Set at 30 psi cold. Are there any suspension mods like heavy duty shocks or sway bars? Lastly in your opinion has the car ever rode softly? When I switched from run-flats to non run-flats I noticed a world of difference and am running Michelins.

I have Michelin RFs and they are very nice riding. And I maintain 33 PSI in them. But I have been told that RFs should be harder riding than non RFs. Do you have the base/ FE1 suspension like I do? Or the Z51 suspension?

I have the F45 suspension with three settings: Hard, Harder and Hardest.
Several years ago I switched from GY runflats to Michelin runflats. It was like getting a new car. But still, a new car with a very hard suspension.
This time of the year gets to me too. The cold weather makes the tires stiffer. Potholes appear overnight but take months to fix. It's no fun having a sports car as your daily driver in the northeast at this time of year.
Michelin run-flats on my car no problems with how it rides, I would also recommend check air pressure. 30 cold. And yes the cold weather will have an affect.

You don't say what year car and I went back through your profile, no car listed, not given in any question you've asked. It is important for many issues as all years are not the same. For example, if you have a 2003 or 2004 with F55 suspension, I could tell you what your problem is and it is a 5 minute free fix.

Sorry to hear of your unhappiness with Michelin, this would be a first for me in hearing anything negative about Michelin.
I've had Yokohama's, and Bridgestone's and neither one of them comes close to the ride the Michelin Pilot's offer on my C5, not to mention the grip.
It's a clear above winner, the only thing I would say against Michelin is treadwear but, that's what you get with a max performance summer tire. It is, what it is...
Honestly, if your having THAT harsh a ride, it's probably overdue for a new set of shocks, even new tires would barely offset that feel, if at all.

2004 convertible, approx 73000 miles, have not changed shocks nor can i determine if it is f55 suspension. I have no build sheet. How would I know which suspension it is and if so what is the 5 minute fix? thanks

I would tend to think the shocks are no longer up to the task.

Look in your glove box, all the RPO codes are on the sheet on the glove box lid.
Here is a link to RPO code reference for your 2004 car.
If you had Magnetic Ride Control you would have a ride selection switch on the center console. F55 in your RPO list indicates Mag Ride.
There is a slight possibility the transportation pins are still in your suspension units. Other than that I cannot think why you are having harsh ride with non-run flat Michelins, they are one of the smoothest and quietest Corvette tire.
