Just bought a vert and the Oak colored top is in pretty good condition and I want to keep it that way...
I have a couple of these before and I recall that I didn't necessarily wash it every single time that I washed the car and I also seen to remember using a product called "Rag Top"...
What are some of the things that you guys do and do not do...???

I bought my 04 vert in 9-14. Bought the Rag Top product and followed the instructions. Like yours my top looked almost new so I wanted to keep it that way. So I bought a top up cover manufactured by Furguson and sold by Ecklers ($190). It is tan (will probably come close to match your color top) and has worked great protecting the top over the winter since I have to park the vert outside.
I have the same top as you. I used Ragg Top the first year and then tried 303. I liked 303 better. I use water-less car wash, only wash the top when I am going to treat it and keep it covered when not using the car.
I keep mine inside, but cover it if I am not using it for awhile. Keeps the dust off the top.
Gotcha!
Not with ya on the "water-less" thing tho...gotta be sand and stuff on there to scratch...I won't even lay a sponge or mitt to mine til I'm sure that I have rinsed all of the loose stuff off...
To each his own tho!

California duster first then waterless car wash. If it's muddy or really dirty I do wash it. Maybe once a year. A lot of guys here have not washed their cars in years. And they look better than new.
I had a C3 for 8 years, washed it with soap and water once or twice and it looked as good when I sold it as it did when I bought it.
I CAN'T wash my car at home... so I wash it almost every time we get it out...it's 25 miles to town...and we live on a rock/shale road that is about 100 yards to black top.... but, I don't "wash" the top I use the soft rinse cycle and just barely rinse it....works great so far!
I use simple green to clean my top.
Someone on this forum told me to not use it because it would "eat" the wax on the body .
With a good rinse, I have not had that problem, and the top always looks brand new.

Bob.
I use SG quite a bit too...amazingly strong yet gentle...
I have a torch red 04 vert with the light oak top like yours. I hand wash my car every Saturday and use RAGG TOP Cleaner and Protective about once a month with a strong brush. I use a quick rinse so it doesn't go on the body too long. No complaints and it looks like new with the water beading up.

I only use the Porsche vert top treatment. Has been excellent so far. Better than Ragtop!

In my opinion, you probably shouldn't wash the top so much and use a horsehair brush, not a strong brush. The less moisture the top has to deal with the longer it will last.
