Just wondering everyone's opinion? I have a 2000 coupe with approx. 41,000 miles on it. Should I have the automatic transmission fluid changed? I'm the third owner and have had the car for 7 years. I'm assuming the previous owners didn't have it changed since it is/was a low mileage car. The owner's manual says if you are not regularly driving in challenging conditions (high temps, mountains, etc) that it should be changed at 100,000 miles, but I was thinking the fluid probably breaks down over time? Any input would be appreciated. Haven't had issues with it, just for maintenance purposes. Is this an, "If it isn't broke, don't fix it." situation? Looking forward to getting it out and enjoying it, if spring ever makes it's way to PA. Thanks.
When I bought my 03 3 years ago it had 22K on it and felt like l should at least address the 10 year old fluids...So I drained and filled the trans, coolant and brake fluid. Of the 3, the brake fluid looked the worse for wear, but it only took a couple of hours with the help of a lift and I felt better having done it.

YES- should have been done years ago. If you don't have good records, this would be a good time to change ALL fluids--brake fluid, coolant, and trans. There is absolutely no downside in my view.

I would go ahead and change the tranny fluid. When I bought my '03 back in '09, it only had 10K miles on it when I got it home, but one of the first things I did to the car was to change out all the fluids, including the tranny (A4).
I would not suck out the fluid in the torque converter I did mine at 50000 and 2 weeks later I was having issues Andy from a&a corvette said I should have just done a regular tranny fluid change
