Only two more weeks until she's back on the road again!!! Wrapping up The final items here as I wait for my new wheels to arrive... New C6 Z51 Calipers are powdercoated wrinklecoat black with matte black brackets. Hood has been cut and fitted with Trackspec Motorsports Functional Heat Extraction louvres. The front end has been re-painted and completely redone with new corner lights, modified mesh grills from Corvette Mods, C7 emblem modified and updated splitter support rods. Should have pics of the entire car very soon!!
Looks awesome! Just curious as to why you went with Z51 brakes and not Z06 brakes? I'm trying to make that decision now myself. I'm having a hard time justifying the extra cost for the Z06 brakes on a car that is street driven.

From everything I've read over on the autocrossing and roadracing section, Z51 calipers with SS pistons, cables, and good pads are more than enough stopping power for the C5. The Z06 brakes look great, and I'm sure they have all kinds of bite, but it's not worth the financial investment to me

Thanks for the information
I like the look of the Z06 brakes but the cost is a little more than what I want to spend. I'll stick with the Z51 brakes like I originally planned.

Aren't C6 z51 brake calipers the same as the C5???
The front calipers share the same piston geometry, but the caliper itself is structurally different. The Z51 rear calipers have a larger piston. The brackets are different front and rear to accommodate larger rotors
The hood doesn't look bad at all for being homemade. But I wouldn't of went with that hood over the ZR hood you had. But I see you didn't want something so aggressive and I can understand that.... I think? lol

Difficult to explain, but the ZR hood was much more impressive in pictures than it is in real life. Also, despite what you read on here, it weighs exactly the same as the stock hood. I bought the ZR hood hoping for weight reduction and functional heat extraction and it only provided one of those things. I didn't expect MCM quality, but I was shocked at how bad the quality really was. Just my two cents...
