Default Oil, when do you change? Regardless of Brand

Do you go...

1 By the mileage?

2 By a certain time span?

3 By the % of life on your system monitor?

4 All the above?

5 None of the above?

6 A combination of the above?

I think a big part of it is where you live and how much you drive, I drive mine 4 or 5 times a week all year, so #3 works fine for me.

Manual says when the DIC tells you to, but at least every 12 months. I do mine every Fall, as the DIC would let me go a couple years at least.

A combination of #2 (12 months) and #3, whichever comes first.

# 6 I put low mileage on car each year so I change mine right before going into storage no matter what the mileage is or no matter amount of time sense last change.

Once a year. I'm not home enough to drive it too much.

The old oil goes in the truck!

Same here. Only about 4,000-5,000 miles per year so this works for me.

For my C5, I change oil once a year (when I put it in storage for the winter) since I do not drive it enough to have the OLM get down to an acceptable change level. On my other cars, I change at about 6K miles, which puts the OLM at around 10-20%.

I don't do more than 2,000 to 3,000 miles a year and change the oil out at the end of each season, before the long winter storage.
