Mine went this morning. 60 at idle and 80 when driving. My question is does it hurt anything to just leave it be for now. I'm thinking it doesn't but just wanted to check. Thanks!

Drove mine around for a month or so with the gauge pegged. Unless oil is leaking around the sensor, no problem.
won't hurt it to leak some either just keep a closer eye on your engine oil level... Heck we drove for years with only an idiot light, which only let you know that your out of oil.

It's not going to hurt anything to wait to replace it if you must, but check your oil level on a more frequent basis than you otherwise would since the gauge isn't working.
Ok, I'll bite: is there any reason not to trust the oil level sensor? It's a completely separate system from the oil pressure sensor.
I don't know but I wouldn't keep driving it until I found out for sure. Seems like everybody is saying sure just keep driving it no problem...well there might be a problem just say'in.
No, there's no reason not to trust it, but with the oil pressure sensor not functioning properly, it doesn't hurt to make visual inspections of the oil level. With your logic, then why would we ever check the oil level manually and instead put unquestioned reliance on the oil level sensor? Are we to trust the oil level sensor without question and never pull the dipstick except immediately following oil changes?
Quoting from Ronald Reagan, trust but verify. Good words to live by in my opinion.
Do you plumb up an external oil pressure gauge regularly to verify the internal oil pressure sensor?
Look, I agree it's a good idea (if perhaps somewhat redundant) to check the oil level manually on a regular basis. What I'm questioning is the rationale for checking it more often because a separate sensor system has gone fubar.
no, because it's not nearly as easy as pulling the damn dipstick. And because both sensors have to do with the lubrication of the engine internals, if one sensor has gone fubar, maybe, just maybe, one should be a little more diligent checking on the proper functioning of the other sensor, visually making sure it hasn't malfunctioned as well. Is there some problem with that?

No problem...beyond letting paranoia get in the way of common sense.
Follow up... I've been talking to the service manager at Corvette Mike, and I took it in today. He is sure it's the sensor, but does agree it's odd it's not pegged out. They take the intake off to replace... $$$... He said:"if it was my car, I would leave it alone". And that is what I'm going to do.
