So my z is an 02 and I don't believe the valve springs have been changed. Currently at 26k miles. I figured I would put in a cam while Im at it and decided on the TSP 224/224 .581/.581 114lsa. I went with this specific cam because from what I gathered searching this forum is that it will still pass CA smog, and is perfect for a supercharger setup (A&A) down the road.
So I'm going to get the package from TSP that comes with new push rods and single beehives. I am also getting the ls2 timing chain set. What else is a good idea to replace while Im at it?
Thanks for the tip gentlemen! Looks like the melling is what TSP carries on their site as well. Really looking to be a one stop shop for this cam swap (that really rhymed well).
Cam swap is a good time to do the oil pump, underdrive pulley, and get the TB ported. You should obviously be doing the valve springs and pushrods with the cam, as stock will not support it. If you have a little extra money the comp trunion kit on the stock rockers is a good upgrade as well.

I plan on going the supercharger route here in a year or so. An underdrive pully is not something that is recommended on that setup correct? Trunion kit is not going to hurt the wallet too bad so I added that on the list. Thank you sir!
The LS2 style timing chain damper seems to be a pretty good upgrade for the money. Supposed to keep slack out of the chain during shifts. I'm not an ls6 pro but I don't think they came from the factory with anything similar.
FWIW I haven't done a cam yet on my 02Z, but I did valve springs, cho mo push rods and the trunion upgrade as soon as I got it and I'm happy with that money spent.
I'm very interested to hear the car and your opinion with the TSP 224 cam. I've been eying that for a while as it would match my springs and I don't want any lope or cam surge on the street (been down that road already with my LT1).

Being I have never used a supercharger, I cannot answer that question.

Will do. My car still has about 80 days left on a engine/tranny/diff warranty, so my plan is to order everything I need in about 60 days from now I will make a note to update this when my parts are in the car. Without touching the headers/exhaust Im hoping to make 405whp or so!
Without a doubt if you are doing a cam, you want to do the top, springs and trunions. Pushrods can be replaced as well but if you arent pulling the heads fit can be problematic. If the heads are coming off, drill the lifter cups, new lifters, drill the heads for 3/8" pushrods.
The stock radiator and crank pulley will be out so it is a good time to replace them.
radiator hoses
Arp crank pulley bolt
Pin the pulley while you are there
oil pump as stated before
Timing chain
Front main seal

Thanks for the advice! While I was browsing the bolts and gaskets section on TSPs site I noticed a ton of different gaskets and it got me wondering. Besides the front main seal and valve cover gaskets, what other gaskets might I need? I saw a timing cover gasket, is that something i need as well?
Water pump gaskets
RTV sealant *max oil resistance* for the bottom corners of the timing cover where the oil pan meets and also on the water pump bolts . It would also be a good time to swap out ur serpentine belt pulleys/idle tensioner. U have plenty of room to do that whenever but like u said one stop all done I'd do it now lol
And yes put in a new timing cover gasket as well with ur new front Main seal. And since u gotta drain the coolant u might as well put a 160° thermostat in it if u don't already
If you're going with a supercharger later, you will absolutely want to pin the crank when you replace the cam.
When installing a supercharger kit does the crank pulley need to come off? If so, I will probably wait till then since the AA kit comes with the pinning kit included with their sc kits. If it doesnt need to come off then doing it now seems like a sure bet. Thanks!

The crank pulley doesn't need to be removed, but the steering rack does and that's not something you'll want to do twice.
You can buy the pinning kits separately. You'll recoup the cost of the extra pinning kit in labor.
