Too old school for the "modern" C5. They went out with the C3, although there are/were aftermarket sidepipes for the C4. Even those don't look right. I'd also imagine that it would be a bit tricky trying to route the exhaust around the frame, trying to keep it no lower than the rocker panel.
The sheer variety of things people do to their C5's never fails to amaze me - has anyone tried slapping on sidepipes?
Have you looked under your car... there is no "slapping on" side pipes.
I'm sure it could even be done, with serious modifications.
I wanted them on my Chevelle and had never seen any that I thought looked nice... so I built my own... one of the nicest compliments I've gotten was a guy asked if they were factory.. I LOVE them.... 36 inch glass pacs behind the shields full 3" exhaust. ceramic coated the inlets and outlets Hooker ceramic coated headers... they sound amazing on the hiway at 70 mph

I've seen a few side exit exhausts, but never traditional side pipes. Saw an mx5 once with fake sidepipes. After I saw the mx5 I got a burger, It was a good day.

Looks like you did a great job, but don't those hurt your ground clearance?
Had the off-road Hooker header side pipes on my black on black 65' roadster !! I loved them, although there are number of women out there that share the same burn mark below their right calves that weren't fans of them, ouch !!

Not at all... I made the shields out of 4" exhaust tubing and painted them with John Deere muffler paint... you can get off the interstate and lay your hand on them...they are warm... but not hot enough to burn you.
closest practical application i've seen (short of the C5-R super-wide body) was a guy who ran the exits out the sides through the fenders behind the rear tires. also seen a couple C6s do that.

Putting sidepipes on a C5 would be very difficult due to the car's flat underside and very low clearance from the ground. Besides, doubt it would look good at all.
Pratt & Miller did it because it's functionally better if you're running real aerodynamics. A true diffuser would trap the exhaust pipes inside the air flow with the transmission and the differential. Re-routing the exhaust out the side makes it easier to cool the diff and trans
I saw an article in Corvette Magazine where someone had it done through Lingenfelter with a quite a few other mods. It was a cut-out from the main exhaust. Wish I could find that article...If I do I'll post some pictures because I though it was done the way it should have been. Cannot remember if it was C5 or C6, but I like the look...to each their own...
