I recently found a 1998 6 speed with around 70k miles on it. Exterior and interior are the colors I was looking for and the price is right where I wanna be.
The problem.....its a rebuilt title. The gentlemen has been very honest and willing to disclose any and all info on the damage. Seems it was a front corner impact and the air bags did not deploy. I havent seen the car in person but I have seen many pics and everything looks good (so far).
My question.....
Is $9,000 a good price for a '98 6 speed with 70k miles and a rebuilt title? Its hard for me to judge the value of car that doesn't have a clean title.
Thanks for your help!

It gives you a little negotiating power. Hit him with a lowball price. When you go to sell it you will have to go through the same thing he is going through. Remember that.
Its a good 10 hours from me......I wish it was close to NJ! That would make the decision easier.
Call around the local (to the car) dealerships and repair shops to find a place that can get it on a lift and do some measurements on the frame. Set up a time that works with the seller for you to test drive it, include stopping by that shop as part of the test drive. If the frame is straight, the car looks good and drives well, then the decision becomes much easier.
EDIT: Oh, and be sure to mention that you're doing this to the seller. If they become nervous, then you might not want to bother even making the trip.

Good advice. As for the price, that's not a bad price, but if you can get it even cheaper, all the better.
Thanks. I just wish I could find what I'm looking for.
I never thought it would be so hard to find a 6 speed targa top with all black interior for like 10-12k.
Increase your budget by $3k and you'll open up the door to much nicer examples. If you buy a cheap one you're going to have to put money into it. Which would you rather do, pay now or pay later? I vote to increase your budget slightly and get one that is worth bringing home

Hardest part is the m6 I'm sure. Tons of vettes in that price range, but most are daily drivers with an a4. Keep looking and one is bound to catch your eye. A corvette will look great with a "Just Married" sign hanging from the back.

You are 100% correct. I'm finding so many in that range and below, but they are all automatics.
I actually want a daily driver kinda car. Something I can drive and enjoy. I just finished my C3 last summer and I don't enjoy her nearly as much as I used to now that shes perfect.
Congrats... You'll need to make sure it has the LMC5 module installed and it's nice to have the CAGS skip shift delete... here is a link for care for your clutch
