so I installed 04 z06 sways and shocks with new end links and rubber bushings on my 96k mile 97. I was hoping for flatter cornering with out a harsher ride, and thats what I got. the big test is leaving walmart and when turning left the intersection banks the wrong way and makes you feel like you are going to tip over, but not since the upgrade, the vette hugs the street and no tip over feeling. still need to test it on the freeway clover leaf. total cost $400

Glad you're happy!!
Just curious though; I "assume" you have a C5 coupe, why didn't you go with C6 Z06 shocks and C6 Z51 sways?
I just put C6 Z06 shocks on my '03 coupe and it made a big difference without sacrificing ride. Actually, I think it's a smoother ride. I plan on adding C6 Z51 sways later this year.

Just curious what drove your decision.
The OP has a 97 coupe according to the user profile...
Just from what I've seen the C6 shocks or the C6 Z06 shocks are both nice upgrades... but, the C6 Z51 sways for a daily driver are probably overkill..

I think that a lot of owners will disagree and are very happy with the C6 Z51 sway bars on their daily driver, but there is nothing wrong with the '04 Z51 sways either. Whichever you choose, they are a nice upgrade over the base sways.

my thinking was to use c5 parts designed for a c5, also the rear sway on a c6 zo6 and z51 are huge and I felt it was overkill. I want to use sways and shock that were designed to work together. I only drive on the street and did not need to make drastic changes, just tweek it a little.

The way I drive Jack the base sways are probably overkill...
Correct me if I'm wrong but, weren't the '04 Z06 shocks revalved? They are different from the previous years Z06 shocks and the subsequent C6 Z06 shocks. They were supposedly tuned on a racetrack and are considered to be the best.
I did the C6-Z shocks and C5-Z51, new end links all the way around on my 02 Vert and it made a huge difference. I was really shocked how much of a better ride it is and when I want to get into it on a corner I have no issues at all. I had the C5-Z51 package before and the ride quality seems better. One of the best upgrades I did! ~$700.
I've heard quite a few people going to the C6-Z shocks and am considering gettng a set. I'm not familiar with the ride of them but was wondering what the ride difference would be between them and the Bilstein Sport shocks? My car is also lowered a bit so would the C6-Z shocks bottom out on bigger bumps?
