I have a 2001 vert and a 2004 coupe. The vert has ~100K miles while the coupe has ~15K miles. Both cars are running fine but they are two totally different cars. The vert feels "tight" - meaning very responsive and very good with acceleration - love to jump on it. (I believe it may have been tuned by past owner) while the coupe is somewhat sluggish - or what I'll call loose. The only mechanical difference is that the vert has a Vararam cold air intake installed while the coupe only has K&N filters without cold air. When driving it kinda feels like the monster and mouse - not sure if this is due to difference between 2001 vs. 2004 or something else. Both are M6. :crazy
Some minor changes in the tune can make the car feel quite a bit more "responsive", even though it usually isn't much faster if you time the acceleration or the 1/4 mile.
Check to see if it has a different and/or ported throttle body.
The RPO options won't reveal anything... not really any engine/trans options on those cars that could account for the difference. All M6 cars came with 3.42 rear ends. If the vert has been changed to a 3.73 or 3.90 rear end that could account for the difference. You'll also notice that the gearing will be different (take note of exact RPM and speed when in 6th gear and compare).
Its also likely the '04 has some sort of problem. Clogged cats, carbon buildup, or something.
I have a '03 stock vert that I would describe as sluggish also..even though the only vehicle I can compare it to is my SSr with the LS2 that I feel would eat my Corvette M6 even though the SSr is a brick. My Corvette only has 25k miles on it. Any ideas for both myself and OP??
maybe i did not see it..but is the vert a atx or manual?? same with the coupe...depending on which one it is..the atx came with either a 2.73 base, or performance axle 3.15 which in its self would feel a lot different when getting on it...now if its a six speed then you could have a 3.42 rear end which will make it feel a lot different then the other car...
