Good looking guy, car exactly like mine. I know those roads, they are not treacherous. He must have been putting on a show for his daughter's boyfriend and taken it way too far. Jeez, these cars are so damn stable, it's hard to imagine what he was doing. Sad.
Prayers for the family saddened by the loss........amazing to me how those things work out sometimes. They were both thrown from same vehicle and one survives while the other does not.
This is the kind of accident that makes me curious about the ABS/TC/AH system malfunctioning and causing loss of control. You do hear about the brakes locking on one side or the other "yanking" the car in one direction or the other...
Tragic whatever happened... maybe the young man will be able to help authorities determine the cause of the accident.
I hope they find out. There must be a reason, one just "loses control". Could be almost anything. Another car cut him off, Deer, medical problem, distracted driving, mechanical failure, tire going down, too fast for conditions, etc. There is always a cause for a wreck.

I think the ABS issue generally relates to early C5s. This car was a C6.
I sure would like to know though if he/they were wearing seatbelts though. (Both thrown out of the car)
Sounds like no seatbelts... I'm not sure how anyone feels comfortable driving like that. I feel almost naked without my seatbelt on, it's not a good feeling. Sad regardless if they were belted in or not. Rip

There is no excuse for not wearing seatbelts in this day and age. He is not wearing his belt in the picture of him behind the wheel.

From the looks of how that car ended upside down, doubt whether seatbelts would have mattered. Sad.

Perhaps. He could have been ejected when he first hit the guardrail. Had he remained in the car he may have gotten control and avoided rolling it. Hard to say, but the car can't drive itself. Better to have a seat belt on in my opinion.
unfortunately its that time of the year when the toys come...just lost a former co worker in a car crash, hit a tree going way too fast and lost control...RIP to those we have lost. A seat belt has saved my life, I wont go across a parking lot without it...I have heard all the idiot comments on why people do not wear one, I do not argue anymore, we are all responsible for the decisions we make, good, bad, or ugly.

Heard this story too many times. I always turn off my traction control because of this.

Are there still idiots out there that argue that seat belts should not be worn? I thought they had all won the Darwin award by now.
The Nuisance of Seatbelts
2005 Darwin Award Nominee
Confirmed True by Darwin
(5 January 2005, Nebraska) In September of his senior year at the University of Nebraska, 21-year-old Derek wrote an impassioned declaration of independence from seatbelts for his college newspaper. Although "intrusive and ridiculous" seatbelt laws saved 6100 lives a year, according to statistics from the U.S. Congress, Derek concluded with the statement, "If I want to be the jerk that flirts with death, I should be able to do that."
Derek "was a bright young boy, a 4.0" majoring in five subjects and planning to attend law school. He was also smart enough to tutor friends in subjects he didn't even take. But good grades don't equate with common sense.
Derek was returning from a holiday in San Antonio, Texas. The driver of the Ford Explorer and his front seat passenger both wore seatbelts. Only Derek was willing to buck the system, sitting without a seatbelt in the back seat because, in the words of his newspaper column, he belonged to the "die-hard group of non-wearers out there who simply do not wish to buckle up, no matter what the government does."
When the SUV hit a patch of ice, slid off US 80 and rolled several times, Derek, in an involuntary display of his freedom, was thrown from the vehicle. He died at the scene. The other occupants of the SUV, slaves to the seatbelt, survived with minor injuries.

And actually, I'm not so sure the kid doesn't have his lack of a seat belt to thank for his being alive today. They'd both be dead if they had em on. Of course, nobody will ever talk about that now will they.
Been working in and around car dealers all my life, its amazing how many come in with buckled belts to defeat the chime reminder...quite sad...I will take my chances of it saving my life vs killing me...
