Hi Guys,
I want to do a red/black checkerboard flooring in my garage. I want the plastic interlocking tiles in either diamond plate or smooth finish. I actually prefer smooth. Problem is this...I am overwhelmed with the different options out there. There are so many brands and they all vary in price. I want a reasonably priced/good quality one. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!
Ray
I have had this Motor Mat floor for over ten years and it still looks as good as new. And these Utah winters with lots of road salt have not been easy on this floor. Motor Mat is a Salt Lake City company that is better know for its sport courts.
No, i ordered from a forum member and from the Racedeck web site. They have frequent sales that keep the price competitive with other brands. Racedeck are high quality tiles with lots of options.

If you have no fluid leaks or spills Racedeck works very well. If you do have any fluid, leak or spill the fluid will find a seam between the tiles and "wick" dirt forever at that location.
I spoke with a Racedeck representative at Carlisle several years ago concerning this "phenomenon". He looked at me as if I had seven heads. Had never heard of any such action occurring. RIGHT.
I got mine from http://www.garageflooringinc.com/, but they came in RaceDeck boxes.
The 'coin' pattern is a lot more dog-paw and tool-wheel friendly than the diamond pattern, IMHO.

99.999% of his customers would never dream of admitting their cars leak.
Another vote for Racedeck. I'm very happy with my Freeflow system after 1.5 years. My only complaint is that my Race Ramps slide on the tiles and don't grip like they did on the cement.

That will certainly fix the problem
I had Racedeck for 10 years. Used to empty the garage and give it a full floor douche once a year. Other than that it was spot clean when needed. Used yellow and white tiles. Showed dirt like a bastard. Drive in and the tire tracks show all over as well as any debris on the tires grinding into the tiles.
Looked great at installation and the color choice was to give as much light reflection as possible. It is a great showroom product. I found that in use in a two car garage with only one full time resident vehicle it did not fit my purpose. I would not use it, or any other snap together plastic tile product, again.
I put in black and white vc tile, you have to put plywood under the floor jack and something under the tires so the rubber does not bleed into the wax, looks good and cleans up easy

I picked the 'graphite' color for that very reason.
The good news is, it cleans up easily, especially with the 'coin' pattern.
The bad news is, the PVC picks up enough static to just suck the dust out of the air. I don't get tire marks on the tiles themselves, but it's pretty easy to tell where I park from the tracks in the dust.

Had forgotten about the plywood. I built my 63 on that floor. You need plywood under a floor jack so that it can roll rather than sink into the tiles when you put a load on it. You also need plywood under any jack stands or they will sink into the tiles, lewving a permanent scar on them.

Another vote for garageflooringinc.com. Nice discount and product was drop shipped from a RaceDeck location in RaceDeck boxes.
i used armstrong VCT tile. got it from menards, ended up at .42 a sq ft
installs with a small amount of construction grade adhesive under each tile.
what i didnt like about the floating tile is the chance for liquids getting under the tile, and stinking or what not.
have to get a better pic with the garage empty, but that doesnt happen very often lol
Another VCT. Just sweep it out every now and again, put a good commercial grade sealer/polish every few months. Spills just wipe up, including all lubricants. Does have some tire marks, but it is a garage that get used, not a display room.
I did mine with and while it looks good and performs ok. I would NEVER NEVER do it again especially at retail prices. I only paid 300 second hand for 600 square feet.
