It's a machine - nothing new about things wearing out over time. When things fail is the real unknown. Overall, the C5 is a pretty darn reliable car and with proper maintenance, can last a long time.

Plus, the guys on here know how to fix it if it does break!
LOL, well I would be lying if I say I don't agree with you. I guess every other topic has been beaten to death but when something breaks it is a new topic..at least to the original post. These cars are getting old and many are truly beaten. After reading CF for some years now I am always surprised when my Corvette starts right up and doesn't throw a code!!!!

C5 of Year Winner (performance mods) 2019
almost all of the problems I have ran into with mine were self inflicted... trying to mod the car and dealing with parts that don't fit, companies that can't supply what they advertise, and so on kept my car down for a lot longer than it should have been
My experience is that a number of things that should be bullet-proof, break... and a number of things that look like they would not make it off the showroom floor, last forever!
I've thought the same thing sometimes. It can get you paranoid that's for sure. For example, the recent thread on the harmonic balancer wobble got me out under the hood to check...I have a slight wobble...OH NO!! Does that mean I'm in for $$$$ repairs???!???!?!!?...and so on. Know what I mean?
But if you think about it that's really the whole point of this forum. While it is nice to see posts about someone's new ride or see some new pics or having someone wax philosophical about how cool owning a Corvette is a LOT of people come here for help when something isn't right...and I would think that most of the posts will be along those lines. Frankly, it's a GREAT resource for that kind of info.
So yeah...I can see where you would feel that way. Kinda like watching the news. A lot of bad stuff with some good stuff thrown in.
It's gotta make you wonder though...for every person that has some here with a problem how many other Vette owners have never HAD to come here because they simply don't have any issues? I would bet it's a lot more than you would think. If these cars were that bad and unreliable then they wouldn't have sold hundreds of thousands of them from 97-04.
don't let what goes on here scare you , these are good cars. Yes they have problems but if they are well kept they can be great cars. Any used car is a roll of the dice. I bought my car new 17 years, 45000 miles, one of the best cars I have owned.
