So I need suggestions and opinions - I need rear tires, but the fronts have some life left in them, say 5,000 miles or less. (cords have begun to show in the rear) Decided on non runflats all around, so would it be okay to just replace the rears, and keep runflats on the front, or should I wait till I can do all four tires at the same time? Just got the car, so not sure about tire wear. I figure logically the rears wear out faster. I know it isn't a major problem, just curious what everyone would do! Thanks!

You are going to need to replace all four tires at this time. If you only replace the rear tires, we'll all that new meat you now feel in the rear of the car is going to be wanting to pass the front of the car. Now if it was the front tires you would be able to get away with it. I'm speaking from experience, I already have the t-shirt from back in 1987 when I did it on my 84 vette. Had to go back and switch them to the front and the front to the rear. At least the tires back then were the same size back-N-front. At this time I am on my 2nd set of Non run flat all season Michelin pilot sport A/S3 on my C6. I believe I paid just under 1,100.00 dollars installed at Sams club. Good luck

Just got rid of the 16 year old runflats on my '99 and went with the Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sports. Absolutely love them! What a difference in ride!!! 265/40/17's on the front and 295/35/18's on the rear.....

I love my Bridgestones and will definitely buy them again.
Thanks for all the feedback! I think that's what I will do, wait till I can replace all 4 at the same time. As for the tire, I'm going to try out the General G-MAX AS-03. It received great reviews and has a UTQG of 480, and it also seems to be a lighter tire than most. Plus, I purchased one brand new on ebay, stock size for the rear, for $56 shipping included!! Couldn't pass that up!
As for the TPMS sensors, do they HAVE to be replaced when the tires are replaced? I did get a message and the 'XXX' for the left front, but it is working now. Surely I don't need all four new ones?

If the sensors are original, it is a good time to replace. They don't last forever.
Here are some pics, after looking at some pictures I say I have at least 1000 miles or more. Just have to take it easy at the stoplights. But seriously, how bad is it?
The Hankooks had a UTQG of 320, whereas the Generals were 480, that is why I chose them. Plus, the Generals are lighter, not sure how, but that has to be better!

Comparison
Looks a little slick. You will like the non run flats and they are cheaper too.
I just bought a set of Sumitomo HTRZ II in the stock sizes for $380 from Tire rack. The seem to be as good as anything I've had on the Vette in the 15 years I have owned it. I only have 500 miles on them so far but they are quiet and grip better than the Michelins I've always put on. If you are just a DD or weekend cruiser, these may be what you need. Check them out. Also if anyone has any feed back, listen to them. Rod
I would just go ahead and replace all four tires with non-runflats. My recommendation would be the Hankook Ventus V12 EVOs.
Jack, I'd appreciate a little help. First Vette; an 03 vert M6 with 120K. Came with Hankook Ventus V12 Evos which previous owner said were runflats. From previous comments I presume he was wrong. They do handle well though. What does one do about a flat? I'm used to pulling out a spare and changing it. Is there a magic formula or does everyone carry a small compressor and a can of fix a flat? Planning an October trip to Gatlinburg and thought it might be a good idea to be prepared. This is a driver, not a show car. Thanks for the help. First post too!

Fix a flat has gotten me home several times with my other vehicles. Took a 3000 mile road trip with my '01 Vette last summer. Brought along a plug kit, jack, compressor, 2 cans of sealer/inflator and collapsible wheel chocks. I also brought a small tool kit, extra hoses and belts and a battery pack. Didn't need any of it. I also have Triple A
