I has started an earlier thread about noticing a burning smell after driving my C5. I started to notice it after I had just installed some new braided hoses and had an oil change. I thought initially it might have been a faulty drain **** in my catch can, however I fixed that and still noticed the smell. I checked all the hoses, looked for leaks and didn't find anything.
Last weekend when I pulled the car up on my Race Ramps to rewire my HID ballast for my passenger side light, I noticed a bead of oil on the bottom of the oil filter. I wiped it down and checked it again tonight after a drive and noticed another bead of oil.
Would this be a bad seal or a faulty oil filter install? The last oil change and hose swap was performed at a local dealership. I really couldn't get too far under the car to really see anything else and the filter seemed snug.
I had that happen one time. My oil filter just wasn't tight enough. I tightened it and checked it every day for 2 weeks, didn't happen again. Odd thing was the filter had been on the car for over a month at that point.

Hope it's something that simple!

Thanks for the replies. I'm hoping it's nothing more than a poor filter installation. I'm going to check my oil pressure, however the fact that the leak is coming from the filter area, I'm hoping it's a simple fix.
Hopefully the tech pre-lubed the oil filter and removed the old oil filter seal. While reaching under the car, I hand-tightened it as much as I could, however I don't have the levarage to tighten it any more or to the specs of 22 ft. pds.
I plan to bring it back to the dealership and have them look at it and have them check out the gasket and oil temp sensor as well.
Reason #10 on my growing list of why I want a 4-post lift!
