Default C5 muffler question

I have a 2004 coupe and need a muffler. I have found some used ones from 1997 and 1998, but the new parts stores have different part numbers for 1997-2000 and 2001-2004. Will a muffler from a 1997 bolt right up to 2004???

Would be a great time to upgrade for a bolt on application from the stock exhaust to the ZO6 Titanium exhaust...you can find used ones on the C5 parts for sale section for $300 or less...

The difference is the tips. 2001-2004 are chrome, 1997-2000 are painted black. This is the only difference I am aware of.

the tips are the difference. The muffler itself should bolt right up to your car. However, it would be my recommendation that you find an aftermarket system you like and have the car sound great.

i would skip buying OEM or from the parts store..imo and look at the aftermarket options..look way better, and sounds leaps and bounds better then stock....i vote would be for the corsa exhaust system

They will bolt up. Every thing is the same as far as mounting points. You will need to get the car up on a lift in order to work the pipes up over the rear axles. Removing the rear sway bar will greatly aide in removal and installation as well.

Yes they will mount up. They are displayed in the photo wrong. They are upside down and left is on the right and visa versa.
