Need some help please. I have a 2001 vert and I'm pulling diagnostic codes C1248 and C1255. The 1255, I know, is for ECBM (brake module). However, I'm confused about the C1248 code. I'm unable to find a clear description around this code. I think it might be a "DRP disabled" code. I'm confused. What is the "DRP". I'm probably going to have the brake module re-built, but don't know what to do about the "DRP". Would really appreciate any help you can provide...
Really appreciate your quick and informative reply... Yes, the battery is fully charged. Was hooked to "Battery Tender" all night and now indicates a full charge.. No other codes have been displayed.. Something a little odd though. Have reset the codes to the NO CODES display. When I re-start the engine the TCS display again show the 1248 and 1255 codes, but as an H code (history). I have then re-set the DIC and re-started the engine. Same history display re-appears (?). I think my next move will be to check and/or replace the ignition switch... Again, really appreciate your help...
When I start the car the ABS and Traction Control lights (speedometer face plate) stay on. After starting, the DIC continues to alternately flash between "service traction system, service ABS, service active handling" until I clear the DIC by pressing the reset button four times which then reverts the DIC back to the mileage display. Back in the fall I experienced the 1255 code (EBCM). Using a forum "helpful hint", I throughly cleaned the ground located under the hood near the top of the driver side wheel well shroud. This seemed to correct the condition since I had no more issues the rest of the driving season.. When I removed the vette from winter storage, the condition (code 1255) re-appeared. I again cleaned the grounds, but without success. The 1255 and the new 1248 code continued to DIC display at each engine start. The battery is two years old and seems ok, but I will have it and the cables checked. If I finally determine that the problem is a defective EBCM, I think "ABSfixer" (forum vendor) in Missouri can repair the unit on my 2001 vette for about 1/3 the cost of a new EBCM.
If you find yourself in need of a replacement EBCM, contact one of guys that recycles Vettes. The units for 2001 and up are readily available in most cases and a unit out of a 'recycled' car is a lot cheaper than a new one from GM. Vettenuts or John Llewellyn ( 865-604-0498) should either one have a unit in stock.
