Default Kooks 1 7/8 install help.

Can't seem to get the headers up through to the head. It's barely catching on the sub frame. I've tried raising the trans with a jack. I'm about to loosen. The motor mount and raise that. Please help!

Loosen the motor mount. That what it took to get mine in.

I tried that on the drivers side and I had no luck from top or bottom. It needs maybe 1/2" more to clear it

My driver side goes in and out without problem. Had to loosen motor mount for passenger side. Can't remember if I took starter off, but it did come out. You can drop the cradle about 1/2" if it looks like that would help.

I recently installed 1 7/8 kooks and just had to remove the nut on the top of the motor mount on either side I was working on, raise the engine and the header slid right in. Passenger side you have to remove the starter. This was installing the latest version. I was surprised it was as easy as I was.

I removed the 3 nuts on the side of the engine holding it to the mount and lifted the engine several different ways and I had no luck going in from the bottom. I have c5 targa. Not sure what style kooks I have. I believe they are fairly new as the are basically brand new....

Sounds like you're on the right path, not sure what the difference is? Sorry I'm not much help.

Wish I was there to help. I did the Kook's 1 7/8 and only removed the spark plugs and coil packs on both sides. Nothing else. Passenger side was a breeze, only the AC lines to contend with. Drivers side the clutch lines etc. Did the whole install with cat less mid pipe in a little over 4 hours. Did have to modify the dip stick tube some but no big deal.
